SNIPE WESTERN HEMISPHERE & ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIP NEWS

SDYC Excited to Host the Snipe Class

Welcome Snipe Sailors:

We are thrilled to have you with us at the San Diego Yacht Club for the 2014 Snipe Western Hemisphere and Orient Championship regatta.

On behalf of my fellow Flag Officers, Board of Directors, members and the entire staff of the San Diego Yacht Club, it is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to San Diego. As a long-time Snipe sailor, I have great appreciation and respect for your accomplishment in qualifying from your home country to participate in this fantastic event. We will do everything in our power to make your stay in San Diego memorable and fun. Volunteers from our membership and Snipe Fleet 495, have worked for over a year and invested countless hours to make this year’s WH&O Championship truly representative of our mantra: “Serious Sailing, Serious Fun” – you can expect all of that this week.

In 1886 a group of local boating enthusiasts joined together to found what has become a cornerstone yacht club in the annals of American yachting, the San Diego Yacht Club. Members of our great Club have a long history of not only participating in and winning international regattas but also hosting first class events, as well.  On shore, you’ll find our membership naturally welcoming and friendly.  On-the-water you’ll find the sailing likely some of the most challenging and exciting you have experienced.

I encourage all regatta participants, their families and visiting guests to not only enjoy the wonderful hospitality of our Club, but also the first class amenities offered by our great City.

Good luck to each of you.  I look forward to the regatta getting underway with a keen desire for steady breezes, intense competition, fair sailing and the strong international Corinthian spirit that makes Snipe sailing, and our sport so unique.

Good sailing,

Chuck Sinks
